Every story comes in its original version plus several simplified reading levels, so it grows with your child.
The original text is the full story with rich vocabulary and descriptive language, ideal for reading aloud together and for kids who are ready for longer sentences.
The simplified levels retell the same story in shorter, simpler sentences matched to your child's stage. Ages 2-6 uses a few short sentences per scene, perfect for first time readers. Ages 4-8 adds simple dialogue and everyday vocabulary for kids beginning to follow along. Ages 6-10 keeps the language accessible while bringing back more of the story's detail, a natural bridge to the original.
Start at the level where your child is comfortable, and move up when they're ready. Hearing the same story told in richer language each time is one of the best ways to build vocabulary in any language.
Original Text: Sarauniyar Ƙudan Zuma
Wani sarki yana da ’ya’ya maza uku. Biyu daga cikin ’ya’yan sun kasance masu fara’a, masu hankali, kuma kyawawa. Amma, sun kasance masu kasala, kuma kansu kaɗai suke tunani, ba sa taɓa damuwa da jin daɗin wasu mutane ko farincikinsu. Suna da ƙaramin ɗan’uwa mai suna Alexander, wanda ya kasance mai shiru da sauƙin hali. Manyan ’yan’uwan biyu sukan yi masa dariya sau da yawa.
“Kai ka yi sakarci da yawa, ba za ka taɓa iya samun nasara a duniya ba,” suka ce.
Wata rana, ’yan’uwa maza uku suka fara tafiya tare. Ba su yi nisa ba sai suka iso wani tudun tururuwa.
“Mu hau kan wannan tudun tururuwa,” in ji babban ɗan’uwa. “Zai zama abin daɗi mu ga tururuwan da suka firgita suna gudu kai da kawo suna ɗauke da ƙwayayensu.”
“A’a, a’a,” in ji Alexander, “ku bar ƙananan tururuwan su zauna lafiya. Me ya sa za mu firgita su?”
Suka bar tudun tururuwan ba tare da sun cutar da shi ba, suka ci gaba da tafiyarsu.
Ba da daɗewa ba suka isa wani tafki. Agwagi da yawa suna iyo a kan ruwan. Sai ɗan’uwa na biyu ya ce,
“Zo, mu jefi wasu daga cikin waɗannan kyawawan agwagin da duwatsu.”
“A’a,” in ji Alexander, “kada ku cutar da su. Ba ma bukatar su don abinci. To me ya sa za mu sa musu zafi da rauni?”
Sai suka bar agwagin suna iyo a tafkin. Suka ci gaba da tafiya har suka iso wani gidan ƙudan zuma a kan itace.
“Bari mu kunna wuta,” in ji babban ɗan’uwan. “Hayakin zai hana ƙudan zuma su soke mu. Sa’an nan za mu iya ɗaukar zumar.”
Amma Alexander ya riƙe shi ya hana.
“Kada ku kunna wuta. Me ya sa za mu kwace wa ƙudan zuma gidansu? Ba mu jin yunwa, kuma ba za mu iya ɗaukar zumar tare da mu ba.”
Har yanzu, suka saurari maganarsa, ko da yake suka ce,
“Kai matalauci ne, wawan mutum.”
Suka ci gaba da tafiya, gaba da gaba.
A ƙarshe, suka iso wani babban fada. An gina shi da dutse, kuma duk abin da suka gani, har da dawakan da ke cikin bukkokin dawakai, duk dutse ne.
’Yan’uwan suka bi ɗaki bayan ɗaki. Ba su ga namiji ko mace ko yaro ba, sai dai siffofi na dutse.
A ƙarshe, suka kai wata ƙofa, ta wani rami a cikinta suka ga wani ƙaramin mutum mai launin toka. Suka buga ƙofar. Mutumin ya miƙe, ya buɗe ƙofar, ya ba su abinci, kuma ya nuna musu ɗakin da za su iya kwana. Amma bai yi magana ko kalma ɗaya ba.
Washegari da safe, ya nuna wani allo na dutse wanda aka rubuta ayyuka uku a kansa. Waɗannan su ne ayyukan da duk wanda ya zo gidan sarauta dole ne ya yi.
Na farko shi ne wannan:
“A cikin gansakukar da ke kewaye da gidan sarauta, an warwatsa lu’ulu’u dubu. Dole ne a same su duka cikin rana guda. Duk wanda ya yi wannan zai ’yantar da gidan sarauta daga sihirinsa. Duk wanda ya gwada ya gaza, shi kansa za a mai da shi dutse lokacin faɗuwar rana.”
Babban ɗan’uwa ya karanta waɗannan kalmomi, nan da nan ya fara neman lu’ulu’u. Ya yi ta nema tsawon yini. Amma da faɗuwar rana ta zo, ya sami guda ɗari kawai. Saboda haka aka mai da shi dutse.
Washegari ɗan’uwa na biyu ya fara nema. Ya fara kafin gari ya waye, yana nema da hasken wata. Amma da faɗuwar rana, ya sami lu’ulu’u guda ɗari biyu kawai. Saboda haka shi ma aka mai da shi dutse.
Yanzu kuma sai lokacin Alexander ya yi. Ya yi ta nema da nema, amma ya sami 'yan lu'ulu'u kaɗan kawai. Da rana ta kusa faɗuwa, abin tausayi Alexander ya zubar da duwatsun daraja, ya fara kuka. Yayin da yake kuka, sai tururuwan da ya ceci gidansu suka zo wurinsa.
“Barka da rana, abokinmu Alexander,” suka ce, “Wata rana ka yi mana alheri. Yanzu za mu saka maka.”
Nan da can cikin gansakuka, ƙananan tururuwan suka shiga. Ɗaya bayan ɗaya, kowacce ta fito da lu'ulu'u wanda ta ajiye a gabansa. Sai suka koma gida ba tare da sun jira godiyarsa ba.
Cikin farin ciki mai yawa, Alexander ya ɗauki lu’ulu’un zuwa gidan sarauta. Sai tsohon mutum mai furfura ya nuna teburin dutse. A can Alexander ya karanta aiki na biyu.
“Mabudin ɗakin ’ya’yan sarauta mata yana ƙarƙashin laka da ruwan wannan babban tafki. Dole ne a same shi kuma a buɗe ƙofar.”
“Ah!” Alexander ya yi tunani, “wannan abu ne da ba zan taɓa iya yi ba. Babu wani mutum a duniya da zai iya nutsewa zurfi sosai har ya sami ƙaramin mabudi da ya ɓace a cikin babban tafki.”
Ya fita ya tsaya a gefen tafkin, hawayensa kuma suka zubo cikin ruwan shuɗi. Sai agwagwan da ya cece suka yi iyo suka zo ƙafafunsa. “Kada ka yi baƙin ciki sosai, aboki Alexander,” suka ce. “Ka cece mu. Yanzu lokacimmu ne mu cece ka.”
Suka nutse zuwa ƙasan tafkin. A ƙarshe ɗaya ta fito da mabuɗin a bakinta.
Alexander ya karɓe shi ya buɗe ƙofar ɗakin gimbiya-gimbiyan. A can suke kwance, su ukun duka suna barci mai nauyi.
Yanzu ƙaramin mutum mai launin toka ya nuna wa Alexander aikinsa na ƙarshe, mafi wuya duka.
“Ka shiga ɗakin da gimbiya uku suke kwance suna barci. Suna kama da juna ƙwarai har mahaifiyarsu ma ba ta iya bambance ɗaya da ɗaya. Dole ne ka farkar da ƙaramar, wadda aka fi so. Kafin su yi barci, babbar ta ci ɗan sukari, ta biyu ta sha ɗan sirof, ƙaramar kuma ta ci cokali ɗaya na zuma.”
Amma ta yaya Alexander zai san wace ce ta ci zumar? Ya tsaya yana kallon gimbiya ukun. Sun yi kama da juna kamar yadda hotonsa a madubi yake kama da shi.
Nan take sai sarauniyar ƙudan zuma ta amyar da ya ceta ta tashi ta shigo cikin ɗakin. Ta tashi zuwa wurin ’ya’yan sarkin mata, tana yin ƙugi daga ɗaya zuwa ɗaya:
“Bzz, bzz,” ta yi ƙugi tana zagaye da gimbiya ukun.
Sai ta fara tsotsar zuma daga leɓen ɗaya daga cikinsu. Ta haka Alexander ya san wannan ce ƙaramar, sai ya farkar da ita.
Da ta buɗe idanunta, gidan sarautar ya ’yantu daga sihirinsa. Sauran gimbiya suka farka, kuma dawaki da maza suka koma kamanninsu na asali.
Sai sarki ya ba Alexander rabin masarautarsa, da ƙaramar ’yarsa ta zama amaryarsa. Sauran ’yan’uwa biyu suka auri sauran gimbiya. Sun koya daga Alexander cewa ya fi kyau mutum ya kasance mai sauƙin kai da zuciya mai kirki, fiye da mai wayo amma marar kirki.
