One story, four ways to read it
Every story comes in its original version plus several simplified reading levels, so it grows with your child.
The original text is the full story with rich vocabulary and descriptive language, ideal for reading aloud together and for kids who are ready for longer sentences.
The simplified levels retell the same story in shorter, simpler sentences matched to your child's stage. Ages 2-6 uses a few short sentences per scene, perfect for first time readers. Ages 4-8 adds simple dialogue and everyday vocabulary for kids beginning to follow along. Ages 6-10 keeps the language accessible while bringing back more of the story's detail, a natural bridge to the original.
Start at the level where your child is comfortable, and move up when they're ready. Hearing the same story told in richer language each time is one of the best ways to build vocabulary in any language.

Wasu abokai biyu, wani beyar da wani kerkeci, suna tafiya tare a cikin daji.
“Ka saurara, aboki Kerkeci!” in ji beyar. “Wane tsuntsu ne yake rera waƙa haka?”
“Wannan shi ne Sarkin Tsuntsaye,” in ji kerkeci. “Dole ne mu girmama shi sosai.”
Kerkeci ya yi dariya, domin ƙaramin tsuntsu ne mai launin ruwan kasa kawai, bai fi naman kaza girma ba. Ana kuma kiran wannan tsuntsun sarkin shinge.
“Wannan shi ne sarkin tsuntsaye?” in ji beyar. “Ina matuƙar son ganin gidan sarki. Zo, Kyarkeci, ka nuna mini gidansa.”
“Ya kamata mu jira har sai sarauniyar ta dawo gida,” in ji kyarkecin.
Ba da daɗewa ba, Sarauniya Wren ta bayyana, tana kawo abinci ga ’ya’yanta ƙanana a gida.
“Sarkin bai zaɓi sarauniya mai kyau sosai ba,” in ji beyar, da ɗan rashin ladabi. “Mu bi su domin in ga gidan sarautarsu.”
Amma kerkecin ya riƙe shi ya hana shi.
“Dakato. Ya kamata mu jira har sai sarki da sarauniya sun fita tare,” in ji shi.
Da tsuntsayen wren suka tashi suka tafi, beyar da kerkeci suka je wurin itacen. Beyar ta hau sama don ta leka cikin sheƙar. A can ta ga ƙananan tsuntsaye biyar.
“Wannan ne gidan sarki?” ta yi dariya tana kallon kerkeci a ƙasa. “Ai, ɗan ƙaramin curin laka da ciyawa ne kawai. ’Ya’yan sarautar nan ƙananan abubuwa ne biyar munana, da manyan baki, ba su da gashi.”
Ƙananan tsuntsayen wren, waɗanda har yanzu ba su da gashi amma suna da kunnuwa, sun ji kalaman rashin kirki na beyar, kuma sun ji haushi ƙwarai.
“Mu ba ƙananan abubuwa masu muni ba ne,” suka yi kuka, domin iyayensu masu ƙauna sun sha gaya musu sau da yawa yadda suke da ban sha’awa. “Kuma gidanmu mai daɗi, mai aminci, shi ne duk abin da zuciya za ta iya so. Ya kamata ka ba mu haƙuri saboda kalmominka marasa alheri.”
Beyar, har yanzu tana dariya, ta ci gaba da tafiyarta tare da abokinta.
Ƙananan tsuntsayen wren, cikin damuwa da baƙin ciki, suka yi kuka har sai mahaifinsu da mahaifiyarsu suka dawo.
“Mun damu ƙwarai har ba za mu iya ci ba,” suka gaya wa iyayensu da suka yi mamaki. ”Wani beya ya ce mun munana, ya kuma kira kyakkyawan gidanmu dunƙulen laka da ciyawa!”
’Yan tsuntsayen suka ƙara da cewa, “beyar ya yi dariya yayin da yake tafiya, ko da Kyarkeci ya tunatar da shi cewa mu ’ya’yan sarauta ne.
“Kada ku damu da wannan,” in ji uban wren, cikin kirki. “Za mu yi magana da beyar mu kuma nemi ya ba da haƙuri.”
Sai Sarkin Tsuntsaye, ƙaramin halitta ruwan kasa mai sauri wanda bai fi kuntun furen thistle girma ba, ya tashi zuwa kogon beyar ya ce:
”Beya, abokin Kyarkeci da dukan halittun da suke tafiya a kan ƙasa, me ya sa ka zagi gidana, Sarauniyata, da yarana? ’Yan tsuntsayenmu sun damu ƙwarai har ba za su iya ci ba. Ka yi alheri, ka ba wa ƙananan tsuntsayen haƙuri.”
Sarki Wren, da ya yi mamakin wannan girman kai, ya yi gargaɗi, “Aboki Beya, ina so mu ci gaba da zaman lafiya da kai, amma zan roƙi abokan kawancena na sararin sama su taimaka maka ka ba da haƙuri idan dole ne.”
Beyar, bai ji sha’awar wannan ƙaramar tsuntsuwa ruwan kasa ba, wadda ba ta fi dutsen kogi girma ba, ya nemi dukan halittu masu ƙafa huɗu na kurmi da fili — kerkeci, barewa, dila, da sauran da yawa, su tsaya gaba da ƙaramin Wren.
Sarki da Sarauniya Wren suka tattara dukan halittu masu tashi sama. Ba tsuntsaye kaɗai ba, manya da ƙanana, suka zo taimakonsu, har ma da ƙudan zuma da ƙananan sauro, da duk sauran halittu masu fuka-fuki.
An aika mafi ƙanƙantar sauro a matsayin ’yar leƙen asiri don ta gano shirye-shiryen beyar.
Ta fi ƙwayar iri ɗaya ta dandelion ƙanƙanta, ta ɓuya a ƙarƙashin ganye inda za ta iya gani da jin komai, ba tare da beyar da abokansa masu zama a ƙasa sun gan ta ba.
“Dila, kai ne mafi wayo a cikinmu duka,” ƙaramar sauron, wadda ba ta fi ɗan ganyen furen forget-me-not girma ba, ta ji beyar yana cewa. “Don haka kai ne za ka jagoranci yaƙinmu.”
“Madalla!” in ji dila. “Amma ba mu da tuta da za ta taimaka mana mu yi sadarwa da abokanmu. Me za mu yi amfani da shi a maimakonta?”
Ba wanda ya yi magana.
“To,” in ji dila, “ina da kyakkyawar doguwar wutsiya mai kauri, ja kamar furen daji. Zan ɗaga ta sama domin kowa ya gani, wanda zai sa kowa ya san ɓangarenmu yana cin nasara kuma dole ne mu ci gaba da tafiya gaba. Amma idan na sauke wutsiyata, to komai ya lalace kuma ya kamata mu duka mu gudu da sauri yadda za mu iya.”
Sauro, bayan ya ji duk shirye-shiryen dilan mai wayo, ya koma ya maimaita su ga Sarki da Sarauniyar Wren.
“Aha!” in ji Sarki Wren. “Wannan ya ba ni wata dabara. Aboki Zanzaro, idan faɗa ya fara, ka tashi zuwa wurin dila. Duk lokacin da ya ɗaga wutsiyarsa, ja kamar ganyen maple, ka soki dila.”
Da sassafe washegari, gasar ta fara. Dabbobi da yawa sun yi tafiya a doron ƙasa har ƙasa ta yi rawa ƙarƙashin takunsu. Taron masu fikafikai, waɗanda ƙananan tsuntsayen wren biyu masu ruwan kasa suka jagoranta, ƙanana kamar pinecones biyu, suka yi rera, suka yi ƙara, suka yi bizz, suka yi kururuwa, suka kuma duhunta iska kamar gajimaren tsawa.
Dila ya ba dabbobin ƙasa alamar su matsa gaba, yana ɗaga wutsiyarsa mai gashi mai yawa, ja kamar sabon dogwood. Nan da nan zanzaro ya soke shi har ya yi tsalle sama. Duk da haka, ya ci gaba da riƙe wutsiyarsa a sama.
A karo na biyu, zanzaron ya soke shi. Ya yi zafi sosai har ya sa dilan nan abin tausayi ya tilasta ya sauke jelarsa, amma da yake ya san muhimmancin aikinsa ga abokansa, sai ya sake ɗaga ta.
Da zanzaron ya soke shi a karo na uku, ba zai iya jurewa ba kuma. Ya sauke jelarsa tsakanin ƙafafunsa, yana kuka saboda zafi da mamaki, sannan ya yi sauri ya gudu daga ƙaramin jarumin nan, mai rawaya kamar furen daffodil.
Sa’ad da bear, wolf, deer, da dukan sauran halittun da ke tafiya a kan ƙasa ba su ƙara iya ganin jelar fox ba, ja kamar faɗuwar rana. Da suka tabbata cewa an rasa nasarar ranar, sai suka ruga nan da can don su ɓuya. Kuma haka ne ƙananan tsuntsayen wren masu ruwan kasa, da dukan sauran ƙananan halittun sama, suka ci yaƙin.
Tsuntsayen wren suka koma mazauninsu na sarauta, wata sheƙa mai daɗi da ɗumi, cike da duk abin da zukatansu za su iya fata - ’ya’yansu. Kamar yadda yara suke, ƙananan ’ya’yan tsuntsayen sun daɗe da manta da beyar mara ladabi, wadda ba ta da ban sha’awa kamar waƙar iska ko raɗaɗin bishiyoyi.
Ba da daɗewa ba, beyar, tare da abokinsa Kerkeci, suka bayyana a gindin bishiyarsu, cikin tawali’u da nadama. Ya yi magana a hankali,
“Na zo ne don in ba ’ya’yanku haƙuri, Sarki da Sarauniyar Tsuntsaye. Ban fahimta ba sai yau yadda ƙananan halittu, waɗanda ba su fi ganyen itacen oak girma ba, za su iya zama masu ƙarfi haka.“
Sarki da sarauniya, masu kirki kamar yadda suke da wayo, manya kamar yadda suke ƙanana, suka karɓi uzurin Beya da kuma abotarsa.
